The First Day of My Summer Vacation

Date: Sunday, May 28, 2006
Speaker: Brian Shuler
Title: The First Day of My Summer Vacation

People spend their summers by going on family vacations, sunning at the beach, grilling out, camping... Summers are filled with activity, but what will you spend your summer doing? Brian Shuler challenges the church to spend their summers reaching out to their neighbors, getting to know people, developing relationships with non-Christians, and serving the world around them. Anyone can reach their neighbors. You don't have to be an amazing preacher or apologist; you just need to care.

Date: Sunday, May 21, 2006
Speaker: Michael Fisher
Title: The Lure of Secret Knowledge - the DaVinci Code

Proverbs says that it's the glory of God to conceal a matter but the glory of kings to search it out. But when we search for that knowledge without God's covering, outside of His authority, then we stumble into deception, error, and Gnosticism. This is where The DaVinci Code finds its appeal, as a route to hidden knowledge outside the authority of God. What's the key, then? Keep the curiosity and desire to search things out, but base it solidly in God to be kept from going astray. That's when knowledge is truly satisfying.

Love God, Love People, Love Life

Date: Sunday, May 14, 2006
Speaker: Michael Fisher
Title: Love God, Love People, Love Life - The Spirit of Mother's Day

When Jesus was asked what the foremost commandment was, He said, "Love God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength." Then He said that the second was to love your neighbor as yourself. Love God. Love people. It's pretty easy. Do those two, add in loving life, and you've got a firm foundation with God. Christianity can be as confusing and difficult as you want it to be, but that's not the way God intended it. Love God, love people, and love life. It's that easy.
