Living Without a Safety Net

Date: Sunday, March 25, 2007
Speaker: Brian Shuler
Title: Living Without a Safety Net

The idea behind a safety net is that it helps save your life. But Jesus said that if you seek to save your life, you'll lose it, but if you lose your life for Him, then you'll find it. What are your safety nets in life? What are you holding onto to preserve your life, when Jesus said to let it all go? Money? Stuff? Your job? Your family? Your own talent? Being an American? Something else? Just let it go and live freely trusting God.

The Acts of the Holy Spirit - Acts 5:17-42 - The Message of Life

Date: Sunday, March 11, 2007
Speaker: Michael Fisher
Title: The Acts of the Holy Spirit - Acts 5:17-42 - The Message of Life

Finishing chapter 5 of Acts, in an ongoing study of the book which has been called the training manual for Christians. Once again, the High Priests and Sadduccees have the early disciples arrested for preaching about Jesus. While in prison, God sends an angel to let them out to preach in the Temple about "this life." What is this life? It's the overflowing, abundant excitement to be a Believer and know God. It's the ability to, as the early disciples, rejoice for suffering persecution for serving Jesus.

The Acts of the Holy Spirit - Acts 5:12-16 - Scary Cool Christianity

Date: Sunday, March 4, 2007
Speaker: Michael Fisher
Title: The Acts of the Holy Spirit - Acts 5:12-16 - Scary Cool Christianity

Continuing in chapter 5 of Acts, in an ongoing study of the book which has been called the training manual for Christians. Shortly after Ananias and Saphira are struck down by God for lieing to the Holy Spirit, signs and wonders are taking place in the church, their numbers are growing, but "none of the others dared associate with them." This is Scary Cool Christianity. God is bigger than our world, and when He intrudes, it usually is a mixture of scary and cool. While your mind and flesh are scared, your spirit is saying, "Cool! Amen!"
