Continuing on in the book of Acts, in chapter 9, verses 33-43, Peter is walking in some impressive power to heal sicknesses and raise the dead, but Peter wasn't always a great hero of faith. He made his fair share of mistakes, from rebuking God to cursing Him at his crucifixion, but He never quit. Too often, when people get corrected they either leave or they decide to stay but give up trying to grow. Peter didn't do either. He stuck around and changed and became a man of God that we can all emulate.
